My favorite Holiday Movies

Here it is! As promised, all of my favorite wintery and holiday movies. The beginning of this list is some big name movies and the end will be more of a hallmark holiday list. Ill admit, I’m a total sucker for hallmark movies. Like I’ve DVRd so many it’s almost full and I plan on watching them all winter long to keep the winter blues at bay. Winter can be really hard on some people and I, myself am one of them. Something about freezing cold weather and lack of sun makes me feel pretty low. Plus I really hate how early it gets dark during the winter months.
My Christmas obsession is a newer development. My very best friend from high school is this beautiful British girl, Natalie, who is obsessed with Christmas. She always had the most beautiful decorations and  festive traditions.   When she moved to Hawaii a few years back my obsession went into overdrive. I think it’s my way of holding onto our friendship and making up for her and I not being together during the holiday season.

Is there any movie more magical than Elf? I don’t know.. There may not be. The whole idea of restoring someone’s faith in the magic of Christmas is a must for this time of year. .

Arthur Christmas
This movie is absolutely adorable. Its all about Santa and what happens when he retires. Which son becomes Santa?

Or what happened when a gift doesn’t make it where its supposed to go? Quat happens when the child stops believing in santa?

I love the difference in the two sons and how in the end they all come together.

The Santa Claus
This is one of my favorites for sure. Tim Allen is the perfect actor for this movie. It begins with a young boy who doesn’t believe in Santa anymore, which in itself breaks my heart. I’m actually really dreading that day in our house. He’s dad is in the process of trying to restore his faith when Santa falls off their roof making his dad the new Santa.

Definitely a good one!

Ernest Saves Christmas
This one is a given. I mean Ernest is just so ridiculous and so silly. He has a slew of movies and this one is definitely towards the top of my list. He is lighthearted and always funny. This is a family must!

The Holiday
This is a totally adorable romantic comedy about two people who live across The world from each other and decide to rent each others homes over the holiday, both finding love and happiness in their own ways.  Plus seeing Jack Black I’m a serious roll was very pleasing.

Love Actually
Okay really? How could this not be on the list. The opening line is enough to make the toughest man cry. Plus its Hugh Grant.. Hello!

“Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion’s starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don’t see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it’s not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it’s always there – fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know, none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge – they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I’ve got a sneaky feeling you’ll find that love actually is all around.”

Okay. Cue tears now!  This story is just an all around love story full of individual stories and I just cannot get enough.. I mean really. It’s amazing and I’d he surprised if any of you haven’t seen it.

Okay, enough big names movies and let’s move on to the really sappy Hallmark movies. This year I have taken Christmas to the extreme! I mean we have done it bigger than ever and I’ve tried to fit as much as possible in. We have baked cookies, done DIY Christmas ornaments, watched movies, seen Santa, Christmas shopped and decorated galore. So this year I started watching the hallmark movies before we even got through thanksgiving.

A December Bride

I love this movie. I only decided to watch it because the leading lady is an actress I’ve loved since she was in the 90210 remake on TV. She’s just so cute! And this movie was also adorable. Its all about an aspiring interior designer who’s fiancé leaves her for her cousin. Just before her beautiful December wedding.  She always grew up wanting a Christmas wedding and was devastated when her   man left her high and dry. In an effort to get her dream job they fake an engagement. You can guess what happens next.

Plus it doesn’t hurt that the leading man is quite streamy.

The Mistletoe Promise

Another great actress who I adore, and a cutie leading man. This movie has a similar plot in a fake engagement but different story. Equally as adorable.

Christmas in Homestead
Another holiday love story. This one is all about this holiday starlet whom is filming her movie in this adorable little town of Homestead and ends up falling in love with the mayor who wants nothing to do with the big movie filming.

A Christmas Note

This one is all about family and love. A women’s mother dies, leaving her a note about a sibling she never knew she had. This woman and her new neighbor embark on a mission to find her long lost sibling. Its super cute. A little sad but very cute.

Every Christmas Has A Story

This is all about a newscaster who doesn’t realize she’s still on air when she says she doesn’t like Christmas. Her and her ex, who is her producer embark on a journey to find her Christmas Spirit while helping others find theirs as well.
