Okay, I’m sure if you’re anything like me, the first place you go for a DIY project (of any kind) is Pinterest. Ahh, The all-knowing, DIY, beauty loving, Kids projects, salad in a jar glorious place on the interwebs we all know as Pinterest. I have definitely been known to waste a few hours ( or a whole day, or am I kidding) on pinterest.
So as summer starts to wind down and I’m reminded of our winter mouse problem and all The damn spiders we found, I took to pinterest to see what I could find and suddenly I was instantly reminded of the peppermint oil sitting in my office. 💡💡💡 ding, ding, ding!! 💡💡💡 I remember reading a few years ago that both spiders and rodents HATE how strong peppermint smells and want absolutely nothing to do with it.
So here we go. I quickly deleted my current pinterest search and started typing “peppermint essential oil and spiders and mice”
BOOM! I had remembered correctly. It’s like posion except without having to clean up disgusting mice bodies in those equally disgusting mouse snap traps. So off to work I went, Digging around my essential oil stash like a madman until I found it.
So here it is!
My personal favorite DIY spider and mice repellent
⏺Peppermint Essential oil
⏺Tea Tree Essential oil
⏺Any spary bottle (but it’s going to stink afterwards so I’d be sure to designate it as your anti spider anti mouer spray bottle)
So are you ready? Because this is where The work happens.
Take your clean, empty, spray bottle. Add about 5 drops of peppermint and 5 drops of tea tree oils. Now fill it up. That’s it. I swear. It is so easy and so much better for the environment. Last winter our house was covered in spiders and mice so I’m going to start plugging up the cracks in our house with my new best friend, magical spider/mouse potion.
